Golden shiner a good forage species available in a wide range of sizes. They can live up to nine years and fare very well in fertilized ponds.

Spawning Characteristics:
Golden shiners begin spawning when the water temperatures reach 70 °F and continue until the water temperature reaches 80 °F. As with shad, the golden shiner's eggs are deposited over submerged vegetation and are left to hatch on their own.
