Facts:
Gizzard shad are a good forage species, but should only be stocked in lakes that contain sizeable predator fish because of their tendency to grow quite large.
|
Spawning Characteristics:
Gizzard shad begin spawning when water temperatures reach 70 °F and continue to do so until the water reaches 77 °F. Their spawning occurs on vegetated shorelines with large schools of females attaching their eggs to submerged grasses.
